Week Two!

Some recent pictures from 'week two' with the twins. Both are packing on weight in a hurry. As of Monday February 18, Ethan was 5lbs 7oz and Haley (Hales) was 4lbs 12oz. They're expected to pack on about an oz a day. Ethan should tip the scales at a whopping 6lbs in the next few days. Grace and I are survivng.. Crying sure isn't as cute at 4AM....

Here's Haley in her.. "OK OK, I give up!" position.

Ethan directing traffic on who to bathe first...

Ethan wide awake wondering what the heck this thing is with the lens pointed at him.

Haley giving her opinion on what the lens thingee is... "It's a camera... cheese!"

Kung Fu babies

Here the twins are already practicing the age old art of Kung Fu. All those damn martial arts flicks that dad made mom watch when she was pregnant paid off. Who would have thought it would have taken effect this early! In this exhibition, Ethan is showcasing the crane technique, while Haley practices her "wax on wax off" skillz.

Welcome to the pack!

Here Nala and Zoey are giving Ethan a warm welcome to the pack. Both sets of grandparents were worried about how the dogs would be with the twins, but both turned out to be great. All they want to do is smell their heads and lick their feet.

B.S.I. Baby Size Investigation

OK, we got a little more sleep last night, so Grace and I were looking to see if they grew any.. Turns out I have this drywall T ruler that lets us measure them ala C.S.I. style... They haven't grown much, but are just about back up to their birthweight... At least it gives us a reference point to start. This is also a pic of them at a whopping ONE WEEK OLD!

Life at home

Here we are with our future American Idol contestant. She sure has the lungs and boy does her voice carry. She does have a tendency to practice at the most inopportune times however.. Usually 3 or 4 in the morning.

Her brother on the other hand.. has his own opinions..

Haley

Now Haley is going to be a heartbreaker... I'm going to need to update my arsenal for when her dates come pick her up... Who the hell am I kidding? She's not going to date until she's 21!

Presto! Piglets!

February 5, 2008.

2:17AM Grace wakes me up with a start.. "Oh crap! My water just broke! I proceed to jump out of bed and grab last minute stuff for the trip. Luckily the van is already packed and ready to go. Poor Zoey didn't know who to follow.

2:28AM In the van headed up the Fwy onramp wondering if i closed the dang garage door...

2:50AM Arrive at the hospital and tell the guard... "her water broke..." He waves us on by. Now only if this worked for other things...

3:15AM Grace gets an IV put in... Ethan is face down but Haley is breach(meaning non-head down or something) Means that she has to have a C section.

3:47AM Grace gets wheeled into the OR.. Ed gets to pace the hallways for 20 mins while they give Grace a spinal epidural

4:00AM Grace gets her Spinal Tap

4:27AM Ethan cries an audible cry for the first time.

4:28AM Haley gets jealous and sings a similar song.

4:40AM Ed is handed the twins to hold for the first time and his and Graces lives are changed forever.

Ethan weighs in at 5lbs and is 18inches long.
Haley weighs in at 4lbs 7oz and is 17.75 inches long.

The pediatritian just left and says we have two healthy babies. We should be here at the hospital until Thursday night or Friday AM at the latest. Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers througout the last 3 months. The twins can't wait to meet you! Below is a brief assortment of pics taken today. I'll be updating this more often now that I have more material to work with.

And to address an earlier post... Ethan and Haley just made it to being pigs! Although Feb 7th is the first day of the new year, one could argue that if they were born on the 6th, it would already be Year of the Rat in China... But thats another story... Whoops, Poop Meister Haley needs another diaper change. Be back later.
